Deliberations at the second day of the NVI–WHO Clinical Trials Ecosystem Assessment Workshop moved from diagnostics to solution-building, as stakeholders outlined actionable strategies to strengthen Ghana’s clinical research environment.
Participants from government, regulatory bodies, research institutions, and international partners examined practical steps to address gaps identified on Day 1, with particular emphasis on:
• Strengthening regulatory coordination and ethical oversight systems
• Expanding early-phase clinical trial capacity (Phase I & II)
• Advancing sustainable domestic financing mechanisms
• Improving institutional collaboration across the ecosystem
Discussions highlighted the need for a more coordinated national framework, supported by investment in infrastructure, workforce development, and data systems.
The National Vaccine Institute (NVI) reiterated its role in driving alignment across stakeholders to ensure Ghana remains competitive and responsive within the global clinical trials landscape.
The workshop continues as part of broader efforts to position Ghana as a regional hub for clinical research and innovation, aligned with global standards and emerging health priorities
