The National Vaccine Institute (NVI), with support from the European Union-funded Technical Assistance programme, has convened a three-day multi-stakeholder workshop at the Reddington Hotel in the Volta Region to assess Ghana’s readiness and competitive advantage in vaccine manufacturing.
Welcoming participants, the Chief Executive Officer of NVI, Dr Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, expressed appreciation to the European Union, GIZ and the World Health Organization for their continued support. He also thanked the participating institutions and stakeholders for contributing their expertise to Ghana’s vaccine manufacturing agenda. Dr Sodzi-Tettey expressed optimism that the deliberations would produce practical outcomes to guide national decision-making, strategic investments and the sustainable development of Ghana’s vaccine manufacturing ecosystem.
The workshop, being held from 24 to 26 August 2026, brings together vaccine manufacturers, academic and research institutions, government agencies, regulatory bodies and development partners.
Discussions will assess Ghana’s institutional, regulatory, manufacturing and human-resource capabilities across the vaccine value chain while identifying gaps in technical competencies, infrastructure, research and development, market access and financing.
Participants will also examine baseline, constrained and accelerated development scenarios to define realistic pathways for Ghana.
Expected outcomes include prioritised investment and regulatory actions, stronger regional and continental integration, improved market positioning, potential funding opportunities and agreed implementation priorities.
